after a pretty interesting church service today, the adults held a meeting regarding the buildings finances, and like so many other organizations, they’re in a tough spot.

but despite the tough spot, the people within the church continue to give time and money to help others in the church and in the community. but if everything’s so tight, why?

because we can.

A woman at my church said it beautifully. We’re a family. families help each other out and support each other. our church is a good example of that. everyone is genuinely interested in what is happening in your life, so when there was a question of the church’s future, there was no question that the group of people involved was in for the long haul, come hell or high water.

on top of that, the church continues to give to different ministries and charities throughout the community, look for different mission fields and contribute volunteers, time and money to help out.

Why would we do that if we are short on money?

because even though we’re in a tight spot, we have the ability to contribute to people who truly need it. an old pastor once said that families are exclusive units. i disagree. how can people who care for and support one another not be considered family? Geneolgy plays such a small role in  interaction, that to say that only those that are biologically connected are family. families give what they have, because they can.
